We, at Kambium, trust that people are capable of drastically changing their consumption within one generation. This is the only solution to keep our living world habitable. We encourage our network of specialists to use their knowledge and courage in diverse projects. Therefore, the focus is on changing the mentality in the construction sector, one of the most polluting industries that is currently not sustainable for the future.
In 2022, the firm was freshly carved out of new wood and focuses on the realization of construction projects and on making existing real estate more sustainable. Researching the latest insights and applications of innovative construction methods and materials is at the core of our ideas. Collaboration with our partners and clients is seen as a vital strength, by looking at the process through different perspectives and offering space to share expertise. The firm is therefore always in search of new ways to keep up with the spirit of the times and continues to develop to provide the highest quality for a longer existence of our buildings.
Business philosophy
Mother Earth has been innovating throughout her entire existence, a process also known as evolution. Why don’t we, as humans, pay more attention to this? If we were to scrutinize this developmental period more thoroughly, wouldn’t our buildings be much more sustainable if we allowed them to grow in a similar way?

Since the Cambrian period, approximately 550 million years ago, an immensely complex domino effect has been set in motion. The tree of life found its origin. At that time, the first organisms began moving through water, and gradually different types of life forms emerged, including aquatic plants. In the millions of years that followed, more and more diverse species of plants and animals appeared. A broad range of diversity emerged, and the corrections of evolution ensured a perfect balance in ecosystems. Various species became closely acquainted with each other, and symbiotic relationships between species developed. These relationships bring many benefits but also make life interdependent. Also, the amounts of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, and nitrogen in the atmosphere significantly decreased over this long period. This led to a progressively more stable climate, with occasional ice ages, to which the majority of life could adapt well. This is the result of millions of years of productivity from algae, corals, plants, and trees.

The emergence of life on Earth is a fascinating process that began billions of years ago. There are various theories about how life on Earth originated, including the theory of the primordial chemical soup. One of the most important ways in which life on Earth originated and has been sustained is through the photosynthesis of plants, which removes CO2 from the air and converts it into oxygen. Trees play a crucial role in this, as they can remove and convert enormous amounts of CO2 from the air into oxygen.

The cambium plays an important role in this photosynthesis process, as it is a layer in the bark of a tree that continues to thicken and expand, creating new cells. This allows the tree to grow and remain healthy. Moreover, the cambium also plays a significant role in the absorption of CO2 from the air, as it produces a large number of leaves, thereby stimulating photosynthesis and removing CO2 from the air. In short, a growth process that is in harmony with all other life around it.
